CFO stands for Camp Farthest Out. The Golden Isles CFO Retreat meets once a year in the fall, at the end of October. The 2012 camp will be held at the Georgia Episcopal Camp and Conference Center (also called Honey Creek-Honey Creek) near Brunswick, Georgia, from supper on Thursday, October 25, 2012, through breakfast on Sunday, October 28th. Our speakers for 2012 will be John D. Reese, III, and Wrae Fowler. Praise and Worship and Rhythms will be led by Bryan and Nancy Holland. Paul and Nanette Klinect return to lead the children and youth programs. Each of these leaders brings a unique blessing to our gathering.
This is a family retreat. Comfortable lodging and three daily meals are provided. There is a daily program to include periods of fun, learning, meditation, sharing, praying, and rest. It is a time apart from the cares and problems of the world, a time for God to minister to us right where we are; a weekend of Kingdom living. The retreat is lay-oriented, inter-denominational, and centered on Jesus. Each retreat is an opportunity to make new friends and renew old friendships.
We have several scholarship opportunities available for the 2012 Retreat. Those campers who refer a new camper who attends the full retreat will receive a reward in the form of a discount. There is also a new Kingdom Scholarship Fund available to help campers who may need financial assistance. This year, for the first time, two fully paid scholarships (individual or family) will also be granted; people who have not previously attended our Retreat and who register for the drawing by July 31, 2012, will be eligible to be selected for one of those scholarships. See the Flyer page for details and for a link to download a form to enter the drawing for the two full scholarships and for links to view (and print, if you wish) our 2012 flyer. There is another CFO in Georgia, which was our sponsor camp for a number of years. It meets in the summer near Toccoa, Georgia. To learn more about that camp, please use this link: Georgia Mountains CFO. |

This is a faith camp; we charge attendees less than the actual cost of conducting the camp. Attendance and scholarships are supported by donations. You may make donations at any time. All gifts to Golden Isles CFO Retreat are tax deductible. Please contact our treasurer, Tom Sommer, to make a donation or participate in any of our benevolence programs. We are also seeking partners who will provide monthly contributions by automatic debit; our treasurer can provide you with the necessary information. | |
